What is acrylic glue?

Aug 14, 2025

Acrylic acid is a synthetic adhesive made from acrylic acid compounds. Its biggest feature is its fast curing speed and its ability to bond a variety of materials, such as metal, acrylic, ceramics, etc., and it has a wide range of applications.

Advantages of acrylic acid:

Fast curing speed, adaptability to low temperature environment, high bonding strength, excellent shear force and peeling force, and good bonding effect on acrylic and slightly oily metal.

Disadvantages:slightly strong odor, weak solvent resistance and extreme environment performance.

The first generation of acrylic adhesive appeared in the 1950s, but it was brittle and is now basically obsolete;

The second generation was launched in 1975, and improved toughness by introducing grafting reactions, such as DuPont's 808 aldehyde-amine condensation system;

The third generation is UV curing adhesive, which is environmentally friendly and efficient and has formed an independent system

The mainstream now is the second-generation improved product, which improves impact resistance by adding elastic particles, such as Molibon acrylic adhesive.

Molibon acrylic structural adhesive series has two categories: 701 and 702.

Both are :

Excellent yellowing resistance

High bonding strength and good water resistance after curing

A/B two-component adhesive, cost-effective

The difference is that 702 is more isdilute than 701, has better fluidity and is more suitable for acrylic.
